Cindi Lux Returns to Her Hometown Roots
Championship Driver and Northwest based race team prime themselves for Portland’s famed Rose Cup
Aloha, Oregon, July 9, 2025 | Cindi Lux will return to her roots this week. The native of the Northwest has traveled the world racing professionally since starting her career in the Portland area. Her homecoming will take place July 12 – 13 in the 64th running of the Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway (PIR). It marks her first appearance at the race since 2019. Lux, a resident of Aloha, Oregon, will compete in the Rose Cup 2 (RC2) class behind the wheel of the No. 45 Black Rock Coffee Bar Dodge Viper ACR-X Shoed by Chinook. The blue, orange and white V10-powered super car is a fan favorite and a second home to Lux having piloted one of America’s great sports cars to victories across the continent.
Her connection to the Rose Cup pre-dates even Lux’s own birth. Her father, Dick Hahn, owned the Ferrari Testa Rossa that drove to victory lane in the first-ever Rose Cup in 1961. The two-time Rose Cup podium finisher (2011, 2014) made her first start in the race in 2001. Lux’s brother, Steve Hahn, will also be racing this weekend in Portland but not at PIR. He will be running a Dodge Challenger at the Woodburn Dragstrip in the NHRA’s Super Stock class.
Lux is a 14-time road racing champion with 10 wins in 26 career Trans Am Series starts. Among her championship-winning performances, the founding board of directors of the Women In Motorsports North America is the 2018 Trans Am Series TA3 Northern Cup champion.
Lux Performance Group, owned by Fred and Cindi Lux, is based in Aloha, Oregon.
The Rose Cup start is Lux’s competitive return to not only her hometown race but to the cockpit. In 2022, Lux was involved in an accident at Watkins Glen International while racing in a Trans-Am Series race. The 55+ G impact left her body bruised and broken. Intense physically therapy and training has allowed her back behind the wheel of the Viper race car.
Qualifying will take place at 3:00 p.m. PT on July 12 with the premier race of the weekend, the Rose Cup, scheduled to take the green flag at 3:30 p.m. PT the following day, Sunday June 13.

“It’s wild to be back behind the wheel of the Black Rock-Chinook Viper and to be doing it in front of my hometown crowd with two local companies onboard. Cool to have our longtime partner Black Rock Coffee Bar and first-time partner Chinook Footwear supporting us. Just feels so right to be doing this whole thing as a local deal. I hope everyone comes out to show their Portland spirit.
About returning to the cockpit | “I am not going to sugar coat it; the recovery was challenging. A couple of broken bones and soft tissue injuries take time, and I am terrible at just being patient! But I have worked hard and so have the guys in the shop putting my car back to top shape. Now it’s time for me to throttle up at Rose Cup and have some fun. This race is more social than any other race on my calendar.”
